Grounded Vessels

‘Grounded’ – a series of open vessel and vase forms. Rough stoneware clay is rolled flat and embedded with small bits of recycled glaze, the clay is then cut, ripped and formed into rough dish shapes or elliptical, bending vase-like forms. After the first kiln-firing, matt and satin glazes are layered onto each piece, some have areas of volcanic, crater-like glaze or marks made with bronze pigment. A final stoneware firing fuses everything together and creates a richly textured surface. Please note these pieces are sculptural/decorative, their surfaces are not food-safe and some of the crater glazes can have rough edges. Please contact me about currently available items and prices.
